Network Exchange Commission: Wimborne Contemporary Arts x Sound Art Brighton

Wimborne Contemporary Arts joins forces with Sound Art Brighton for two events in their respective locations.

Ambient Afternoon is organised by Adrian Newton and Chris Sciacca, and will explore the relationships between sound art, experimental music and the environment. The project will build on Sciacca’s current practice-based research examining the e-waste produced by digital technologies, using microphones constructed from household waste.

The event will be expanded by performances by Andrew Heath, Akira Sileas, Chuter, Circles in Circles, David Rogers, Monophonic, Rob and Veronique Palmer, Slow Clinic, working within experimental electronica, electro-acoustic music, modular synthesis, tape loops, Frippertronics and sound art.

Listen Club is a recurring event organised by Sound Art Brighton at The Rose Hill, with a different guest curating each event. In this session Adrian will present a series of short sound clips recently gathered from different natural environments, using a variety of recording techniques. These include ancient woodlands affected by climate change, beaches polluted by plastic, and the hidden sounds of anthills, bumblebee nests, chalk streams, beaver colonies and sand dunes.
