Network Exchange Commission: Iklectik x Yarmonics

In March 2026, IKLECTIK will collaborate with YARMONICS to deliver a focused public sound programme in Great Yarmouth, expanding IKLECTIK’s NOMADIK activity beyond its typical metropolitan contexts and into a coastal, community embedded setting. Building on YARMONICS’ recent experimentation with decentralised and site specific festival formats, the collaboration will introduce IKLECTIK’s 8.2 multichannel / Ambisonics NOMADIK sound system to new audiences over an intensive weekend that combines system setup, public engagement and a final presentation to audiences.

The partnership is intentional in both scale and scope, concentrating on opening up access to high quality multichannel / Ambisonics sound experiences for local communities, young people and artists who may not otherwise encounter experimental sound practices or immersive audio infrastructure. The programme includes family listening sessions, workshops for young people, multichannel / Ambisonics sound bath and a curated performance event, with opportunities for local artists to engage directly with the system.

For IKLECTIK, the invitation to work in Great Yarmouth aligns with an ongoing commitment to decentralising experimental culture, testing how mobile sonic infrastructure can move beyond established arts centres and operate meaningfully within nontraditional spaces. For YARMONICS, the collaboration strengthens yearround engagement and supports the development of regional audiences for experimental sound. Together, the programme aims to demonstrate how multichannel / Ambisonics sound systems can function as tools for both artistic innovation and communityled cultural participation, while also piloting models that may inform future collaborations across other non-metropolitan locations.
