About the Workshop

An exciting one-off opportunity for audiences to participate in a free vocal workshop with musician and artist Alexandra Drewchin (Eartheater) and to take part in a performance of new Outlands commission Fracture Patterns.

Drawing upon her idiosyncratic vocal style, Alexandra will guide participants through contrasting zones and unconventional vocal spaces in a voyage to discover where noise, scale, range and tone have the potential to transform into chaos. You will explore the higher and lower ends of your vocal spectrum individually and collectively as a group to seek out your edges and find your breaking point. The workshop will be an exploratory, playful and liberating experience transgressing notions of what a choir is and what a voice ‘should’ sound like.

The outcome of the workshop will be fused into the evening Fracture Patterns performance of Semiconductor’s film Black Rain with music by Eartheater and vocals by you.

No experience is necessary (this is not a traditional singing workshop) just come with an open mind and an adventurous spirit! Participants gain free entry to the evening Fracture Patterns event.

About the Artist

Eartheater is Alexandra Drewchin, a New York based musician, artist, and choreographer. A viscerally emotive and physical live performer, Eartheater distills digital production, a three-octave vocal range, and classical composition into work that weaves sonic tapestries with romantic, gestural electronica.
